SACE SCHOOL ACCREDITED
- Approved by the SACE Board, our school is currently delivering the SACE program in MODERN GREEK Continuers and Beginners level (STAGE 1 and STAGE 2).
- A quality assurance process has been completed and having met the requirements, we are pleased to announce that our students can get 10 or 20 credits by completing the SACE Modern Greek Continuers or Beginners program, in our School.
SACE (Stage 1 and Stage 2) MODERN GREEK CONTINUERS
- The language to be studied and assessed is the standard version of Modern Greek — the demotic form of the written and spoken language.
- A locally assessed language at continuers level is a 10-credit or a 20-credit subject at Stage 1, and a 20-credit subject at Stage 2.
- Students develop an understanding of how Greek language is used effectively and appropriately, by using various combinations of the skills of listening, speaking, viewing, reading, and writing, for a range of purposes in a variety of contexts. Students explore a range of prescribed themes and topics from the perspectives of diverse individuals and groups in the Greek-speaking communities.
SACE (Stage 1 and Stage 2) MODERN GREEK BEGINNERS
- The beginners’ level is designed for students with little or no previous knowledge and/or experience of the Greek language before undertaking Stage 1, and is designed as a 2-year program for students who wish to begin their study of the Greek language at senior secondary level.
- Students develop the skills of listening, speaking, reading, and writing, and use information and communication technologies to create and engage effectively with a range of spoken, written, visual, and multimodal texts in the Greek language.
- A locally assessed language at beginners’ level is a 20-credit subject at Stage 1, and a 20-credit subject at Stage 2.
OUR CLASSES
Our school provides Greek language learning for students from RECEPTION to YEAR 12.
- Small classes in each year level ensure the success of interaction between students and teachers. The students start their journey into the magical world of Greek language, history, and traditions.
- Our Students develop an understanding that learning the Greek language helps them communicate, live and work successfully, as linguistically and culturally aware citizens of the world. Through Greek language learning, students develop communication, intercultural, and interpersonal skills.
- We use a variety of pedagogical approaches, combining a dynamic interactive learning environment and a traditional style, for maximum effectiveness.
GREEK TRADITIONAL DANCES
- The dancing lessons, serving the dissemination of Greek heritage, give students the opportunity to experience the tradition through its three axes: dance, music and costumes.
- In small groups, our students have the opportunity to learn the most popular Greek traditional dances and culture from the beautiful Greek islands, Epirus, Macedonia, Pontus, the Peloponnese, Thrace, Central Greece and Cyprus.
- Dance lessons are offered for FREE during the normal lessons.
OFFICIAL DANCING GROUP OF PROPHET ELIAS
- With great respect to the traditional values and cultural heritage of our country, our Greek dancing school bridges the gap between the past and the future.
- Under the guidance of our dance teacher Anastasia Mavrides, our students are able to practise more advanced dances with a variety of steps and participate in festivals, wearing the unique, handmade Greek traditional costumes collected from various Greek regions.

NEW TEACHING METHODS
ELLINOPOULA ONLINE LEARNING PLATFORM
Commencing in 2023 our Greek School will be implementing Ellinopoula in all classes from Year 4 and above. We are excited to use this innovative, accredited and highly awarded online platform to support our students’ progress in the Modern Greek language!
This platform complements our existing curriculum and will enable our teaching team to support each student through a more personalised learning approach. The Ellinopoula platform caters for different levels within a class, and each student will be assigned to an appropriate level. Students will have the opportunity to complete their assigned online learning path, and assessments will be conducted every month. Teachers will monitor student progress and use this information to tailor lesson plans for the entire class. We will also use assessment reports to identify poor student performance and provide personalised feedback and activities to support student progress.
The Ellinopoula online platform will encourage our students to participate more actively in the classroom, and in combination with our current pedagogical approach will assist our teachers in supporting every student to learn and thrive in the Modern Greek language.
ΤEACHING INNOVATIONS – A MODERN WAY TO TEACH TRADITIONAL DANCING
Now that our students are familiar with the basics of the traditional dances it is time for them to delve into and explore more historical and cultural elements.
From 2023 a new dancing program will be implemented to keep alive those parts of life which are not recorded in the history books. The customs, the songs, the traditions, the costumes, the daily habits, and practices of the hard lives of our parents and grandparents.
Therefore, the dancing lessons will be delivered in a different method; in a way where our students will learn more about the morals and customs of our ancestors while cultivating their rhythmic skills at the same time.
Some of the aspects the lessons will explore include:
SACE (Stage 1 and Stage 2 MODERN GREEK CONTINUERS)
As a school accredited by the SACE Board, we are pleased to announce that another round of Stage 1 and Stage 2 students have completed their program/exams and succeeded to get 20 credits.
We are proud to announce that our teachers are highly qualified to teach and deliver the SACE program, meeting all the requirements in a quality assurance process, ensuring that the students achieve their personal best.
