Reverend Father Michael Psaromatis

Fr. Michael Psaromatis was born in Adelaide South Australia on the 20th of October 1984. He is the 5th child of Fr Stavros and Presvytera Kyriaki Psaromatis. He received his primary and secondary education at St George College Thebarton where he was also made co-Head Prefect in 2002. He studied IT, Theology and Modern Greek at Flinders University, where he was given the opportunity to lecture, tutor and pursue post-graduate studies in the Modern Greek department for 5 years.
From the age of 9 until 16 years, he learnt the sacred art of Byzantine Music under the Archon First-chanter of our Holy Archdiocese, Mr Ilias Frangoulis. He is an active member of the St John of Damascus Choir in Adelaide.
From the age of 14 years he represented his home Parish of Prophet Elias Norwood to the Central Youth Committee of South Australia until his ordination to the Priesthood in July 29 2012 at age 27 when he was placed by the Holy Archdiocese to oversee the Central Youth Committee, a position he held until November 2019.
Fr Michael is married to Presvytera Cynthia Psaromatis. Together they served the Parish of St Andrew Noarlunga for 8 years. During this time Fr. Michael also served as the Pastoral Chaplain of St Basil's Homes SA, the aged care arm of our Holy Archdiocese in SA. As of the 1st of July 2020 Fr. Michael was appointed Parish Priest of our Community and Parish of Prophet Elias Norwood.
Fr Michael has a great love for music, theology and the arts and is an avid sports fan. He is passionate about the youth and the future of the Church and invests a considerable amount of time and energy of his pastoral ministry seeking to inspire the younger members of our Faith.
